Not all words carry the same weight. Some pass through a conversation and disappear; others remain because they reach the exact place where we needed to be met. They do not have to be solemn. Sometimes it is enough to hear our name spoken without hurry, an “I was thinking about you,” an “I understand why you feel this way,” or a sentence that gives us a fairer image of ourselves than the one we can see in that moment.
We feel loved when we are not only heard but recognized. The distinction is subtle and decisive: listening means receiving what the other person says; recognizing means letting them know that their experience has found room within us. Words then become a form of presence. They do not necessarily solve a problem or erase a wound, but they let us feel that we do not have to go through everything…
